Bogura to Dhaka by car: route, time and cost explained
The route, the real driving time at different hours, the toll, and what makes one rental quote different from another.

Ask ten people in Bogura how long it takes to drive to Dhaka and you will get answers from three hours to seven. All of them are right, on different days. This guide explains the route, the hours that matter and what a car rental quote for the trip should include, so you can plan a Dhaka trip from Bogura without guessing.
The route
The car leaves Bogura on the N5/N4 towards Sherpur, passes the Chandaikona junction into Sirajganj district, and reaches the Jamuna bridge (Bangabandhu bridge) after roughly 80 km. The toll plaza is on the west bank. Across the river the road runs through Elenga and Tangail, then Mirzapur, Kaliakoir and Chandra into Gazipur, and finally into Dhaka either through Uttara on the airport road or via the bypass towards Savar for Mirpur, Dhanmondi and the south. Total distance is about 197 to 200 km depending on the Dhaka address.
How long it really takes
| Departure from Bogura | Typical time to Uttara | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 11 p.m. – 1 a.m. | 3.5–4 hours | Empty highway; arrive before dawn. Best for flights and hospital admissions. |
| 5 – 6 a.m. | 4–4.5 hours | Arrive before Dhaka's midday traffic. |
| 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. | 4.5–5 hours | Normal; Gazipur slows in the afternoon. |
| 3 – 5 p.m. | 5–6 hours | You hit Gazipur and Dhaka at evening peak. Avoid. |
| Eid week, any hour | 6 hours or more | The bridge queue can run for kilometres; leave at night. |
Add 30 to 60 minutes if your destination is Motijheel, Old Dhaka or Sadarghat; the last 15 km inside the city often take longer than the 80 km before the bridge.
What a rental quote for Bogura to Dhaka includes
- The driver, always. There is no self-drive car rental in Bogura.
- Fuel for the trip, in the figure or on a separate line.
- The Jamuna bridge toll, paid by the driver.
- Parking at the destination if the car waits.
- The driver's night allowance if the car stays overnight for a return trip.
If a quote does not say what is included, ask before you confirm. A fixed figure with the inclusions written down is the difference between a quiet trip and an argument at the end of it. Our own quotes for the Bogura to Dhaka run always list these items.
One way, round trip or two one-ways?
For a day in Dhaka, a round trip with waiting is simplest. For two or more days, two one-way bookings are usually cheaper than keeping the car and driver waiting in Dhaka, and the car can carry another customer back to Bogura in between. For a flight, book a one-way to the airport and a separate pickup for your return date.
Which car
- One to four passengers: a sedan (Allion, Premio, Axio).
- Five to seven with luggage: a Noah or Esquire.
- Eight to twelve, or a wedding party: a HiAce.
Small things that make the trip better
- Leave at night if anyone in the car gets travel-sick; the empty road is smoother.
- Carry the hospital papers or the flight ticket in your hand luggage, not the boot.
- Tell the driver the exact Dhaka address when you book, so the entry point is planned.
- In winter fog (December and January) add an hour; the bridge approach can be slow at dawn.
